Your Company’s New Year’s Resolution

We’re approaching a new year, and with it comes new year’s resolutions, of which your company should not be left out. Reevaluate your company’s core values and make sure that your company still stands by them.

Here are three ways to keep your company’s culture strong going into and through the new year.

1. Have a defined culture. Decide what you want your culture to be and make it clear to everyone. Or if you want your culture to remain the same, make sure that your employees know it. Reiterate your values, don’t sway from them and repeat them until everyone is sick of hearing them. Every employee should understand the vision and direction of your company. That being said, it is much easier to work towards a common goal when you know exactly what it is and how to get there. This transparency opens the door for progress.

2. Support your employees in their growth. Encourage employees to take advantage of education opportunities whether personal or professional. Employees that go the extra mile to expand their knowledge will be assets to your company. Showing support of your employees will encourage their progress and success in your company.

3. Create a level playing field. Employees, managers, VPs, and CEOs always seem to be herded into groups and placed on different levels. To create and maintain a successful company culture, it is important to make sure everyone knows that they matter. Nobody should receive special treatment and there should be no “us vs. them” mindset. We all work for the same company and share many of the same goals and creating equality in the workplace sets your herd up for success in a cohesive environment.
