Bull by the Horns

Finding Your “Ringing The Bell” Bulls

As you think about hiring or how you get the right bulls into your herd, it’s important to step back from your overall approach and first and foremost ask, do I have a compelling reason for bulls to want to be in my herd? Do I have a compelling vision that drives people into the organization and that makes them want to click on the apply now button? Do they want to be a part of my organization?

The second question to ask is when you think about your hiring practice, are you assessing how well they match your culture and core values and making it clear that that’s the benchmark of behavior that you’ll be looking at them for in the future? Are they powerful and passionate? Are they “ringing the bell” bulls? Or are they passive? Who do you want in your organization?

As you think about your hiring process, do you have a structured process that allows you to identify that power and passion, that allows you to identify where the right seat for them is, once you bring them into the herd, and do you have a benchmark to measure them against? Think about your hiring process, what is remarkable inside of it and do you have a compelling vision that draws people into your herd? By both asking and answering these questions, you can set your herd up to be “ringing the bell” bulls.
